This Spanish Garlic Shrimp recipe is one of my favorite ways to make shrimp! It reminds me of having Spanish Tapas like at Amada (amazing tapas restaurant in Philadelphia). It is a great low carb tapa or an entire meal.  This Spanish Garlic Shrimp recipe is very easy and quick to make.  I hope you enjoy this as much as we do!

Ingredients

  • 5 T butter
  • 10 garlic cloves chopped
  • 1/3 cup sherry
  • 1 lb raw shrimp (peeled / deveined)
  • ½ teas paprika
  • ½ teas smoked paprika
  • ½ teas chili powder
  • ½ teas coarse black pepper
  • ½ teas sea salt
  • Handful of fresh cilantro chopped
  • Juice of 2 small lemons

Instructions

  1. Over medium heat, in a large skillet, melt butter.

  2. Add garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes (while stirring often – be sure not to burn the garlic).

  3. Then add sherry and let it reduce for about 1-2 minutes.

  4. Reduce heat to medium low, add shrimp, paprika, smoked paprika, chili powder, black pepper, salt and cook for about5 minutes (or until shrimp is fully cooked) * while occasionally stirring.

  5. Add lemon juice, cilantro and stir.

  6. Remove from heat and serve.

Depending on the size of the shrimp, cooking times can vary. Cook until pink all the way through.

Pairings:

We paired this Spanish Garlic Shrimp recipe with Manchego Cheese Spring Mix Salad (which also is a nice Spanish tapa option).  It also pairs well with just a simple arugula salad and nice bottle of dry Spanish white wine or a Sauvignon Blanc. If you are not watching your carbs, you will love dipping some crusty bread in the sauce.
